Ulana Lau Niu is the Art of Weaving Coconut Fronds. This practice dates back from the earliest Polynesian times. The coconut tree is know throughout the Pacific as being The Tree of Life! It provides the ultimate gifts for survival. The fruit was used for water, the meat for food, the husk fiber was made into rope for canoes, the trunk for building and the fronds were used for weaving endless creations, from hats, baskets, plates, roofing, walls, and so much more. It is such a primordial part of the Islands. It is an honor and a duty to create and perpetuate this Art into our modern Age. There is no better Pride than to wear such a gift from Nature. Plus it’s 100% organic, eco friendly and biodegradable:)
